Welcome to Retro Blissed in 2017! This week, the guys look back at all the games Retro Blissed played in 2016 and hand out multiple awards. They then give their top 10 games played for the podcast in 2016 and end it all with listener feedback and the Bliss Quiz! It's a new year of retro games and a new year of...gout talk?
This week, the guys wish you a merry Christmas by playing and reviewing the N64 classic kart racer Diddy Kong Racing. Also, Trevor gives Johnny a gift, they discuss their top 5 games to play at Christmas, and the beloved Bliss Quiz spreads holiday cheer. Will this episode be their gift to you, or is it just another lump of coal in your stocking?
The arcade classic Rampage was ported to many systems. This week, the guys cover the original Rampage for the Sega Master System and the sequel, Rampage: World Tour for the Sega Saturn. Finally, a game where you're supposed to just destroy everything without thinking twice. They should be pretty good at this.
It's the entire Skate or Die trilogy for NES in one episode! The original game, the spinoff Ski or Die, and the cult "classic" Skate or Die 2: the Search for Double Trouble. Will this trilogy be as epic as the Lord of the Rings, as godly as the Zelda triforce, and as blissful as the original trio of Mario Bros game? Probably not? Well, tune in anyways to find out if this is the greatest trilogy this side of Mordor/Hyrule/Mushroom kingdom!
This week, the guys take to the skies in the Sega Genesis shoot 'em up Fire Shark. They made it a long way through the 16-bit action using quite possibly the coolest cheat code they've seen yet. What did you expect them to do? Take the moral high ground and do things the hard way? Don't be a fool!
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the president? Find out in this episode recorded in front of a live audience at the Super Famicon convention in Greensboro, NC! The guys play and review the NES "classic" Bad Dudes, with a new top 5 and Bliss Quiz!
What?! Trevor is not in this episode, yet he still has to write the intro? Forget that! There's no way Johnny and special guest Chris Chavez of the Back Issues Comic Book podcast can pull this off without Trevor. Right guys? Right?! This episode better be terrible.
With the Chicago Cubs winning the 2016 World Series, Major League Baseball is hotter than ever. This week, the guys celebrate by playing a quirky baseball game from nearly 3 decades ago: Bad News Baseball for the Nintendo Entertainment System. WThey also challenge each other with 2 brand new game show style games, in addition to the Bliss Quiz! Sheesh, they took this episode to the 11th inning!
In a special super-sized episode 25, a special guest joins the guys to talk about and review one of gaming's greatest achievements: Super Mario Bros 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. There's even a special edition of the Bliss Quiz! The guys apologize ahead of time for the "extra special" script reading segment. And by apologize, they mean they will probably keep doing dumb stuff like this. So, yeah. 5 stars!
In this honestly not-at-all spooky Halloween special, the guys play their first Dreamcast games for the podcast and throw out the normal reviews for a "spooky rating" of the classic Resident Evil: Code Veronica and the much less classic Kiss Psycho Circus. Plus a terrifying top 5 and a hideous Bliss Quiz!
Opening music "Desperation 0" by ThrillshowX.
What happens when you take a game that mixes Pac-man, Bomberman, and features the distant cousins of Bub and Bob from Bubble Bobble being graphically eaten alive before your poor innocent eyes? Who knows, but today the guys play and review Trog for the Nintendo Entertainment System!
Woah, another double game episode! The guys play and review Disney's Talespin for both the 8-bit NES and the 16-bit Sega Genesis. That's twice the Baloo for your money!
Bubble Bobble for the NES is a classic action puzzle game by Taito starring two adorable dinosaurs. It is also really fun to say. Try saying it 3 times fast. Like this: Bubble bobble bubble bobble bubble bobble.
The guys walked into this one blind. How could they have known that Walt Disney's Beauty and the Beast: Roar of the Beast for the Sega Genesis is notoriously frustrating and difficult, in addition to having a long title? Hmm? Stick around for tears and a new Bliss Quiz.
Iron Tank for the Nintendo Entertainment system left the Retro Blissed guys more divided than any game so far. Tune in to find out why this SNK title left such an impression. Tank you for listening!
Trevor "sings" in this one. Don't listen to it. Seriously. It's so unbearable. Except, do listen because they review the cult classic combat racer Rock n' Roll Racing for the Super Nintendo, plus a new top 5 and the world famous Bliss Quiz!
In a Retro Blissed first, we cover not one, not two, but three games in one episode! Your ears will be down for the count as we play, discuss and review WCW/NWO Revenge, WWF Wrestlemania 2000, and WWF No Mercy for the Nintendo 64. Are these three of the best wrestling games ever made, or has time been unkind to these kings of the square ring? Listen now and find out!
Why does this 2-player beat-em up cause the guys to put on lots of make up, grab some wigs, and dance all around the living room while the cat stares with pious judgement? Tune in to find out!
Why I oughta! This week, your two Retro Blissed stooges take on The Three Stooges for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It's all fun and games until someone gets a knuckle sandwich and a pie in the face!
Pokemon Go? Not quite. This time we play Pokemon Pinball for the Gameboy Color! Will the guys catch Pikachu, or will Charizard leave them flame broiled? Get your shiny balls ready because this time we go full tilt!
